Generating Employment

27th SKOCH Summit | Tuesday | 29th November | Shangri-La, 19, Ashoka Road

With more than 50% of our population below 25, there is an urgent need to address the employability issue. The gap between employable youth and jobs opportunities has been widening with every passing day.

“Skills and Knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. Potentially, the target group for skill development comprises all those in the labor force, including those entering the labour market for the first time (12.8 million annually) those employed in the organized sector (433 million) in 2004-05. The current capacity of the skill development programs is 3.1 million. India has set a target of skilling 500 million people by 2022 “- Source National Skill Development Policy March’ 09

Harnessing our demographic dividend through skill development and employment generating by promoting grassroot entrepreneurship would provide an opportunity to achieve inclusion and also leading to reducing in acute skill shortages in various sectors.
